Vaginal delivery of a breech baby

A vaginal birth from a breech position is quite possible - it is often performed here at the See-Spital.

The decision for a vaginal delivery of a breech baby is only made after extensive consultation and careful consideration of the size of the baby in relation to the mother’s pelvis, and after ruling out any other birth risks.

You can arrange an appointment for such a consultation in our practice, this is best 4 weeks before the expected due date.

If a vaginal birth for a breech baby is not advisable, we can attempt to rotate the baby into the head-down position before having to unavoidably opt for a caesarean section. The external cephalic version is a well-known obstetric measure that we also perform. Information about this can be found here.
